Lakitelek is a large village located in the Duna-Tisza region, within Bács-Kiskun County, in the Tiszakécske District. It lies equidistant from Kecskemét and Kiskunfélegyháza, at the meeting point of the Homokhátság and Tisza Valley. Covering an area of 54.66 km², Lakitelek had a population of 4,862 in 2024.

The village has a rich history, with evidence of settlement dating back to prehistoric times. The earliest archaeological findings originate from the Copper Age and are linked to the Bodrogkeresztúr culture. Lakitelek was first mentioned in a charter in 1075 when King Géza I granted land near Alpár to the Garamszentbenedek Abbey.

Modern Lakitelek emerged in 1949-1950 through the unification of smaller settlements on lands formerly owned by the city of Kecskemét.

Due to its status as a transportation hub, Lakitelek is easily accessible from multiple directions. The most convenient route is via the 44th main road, and it is also reachable by rail on the MÁV 145 and 146 train lines.
